Winning an award, let alone the Grand Prix Award at The Very Short International Film Festival was completely unexpected. I dragged one of my best friends, Peiru, along after work to attend the event at Zouk. The painfully shy and awkward me finds it incredibly difficult to go to large events and gatherings on her own. Peiru was saying I had to thank her on stage should I win. I have to apologise, because I was so freaked out on stage that I could only thank the event (VSIFF), the organisers (ZoMedia), the judges, my family and friends… and I swear I was gasping out my ‘speech’. Eric Khoo was the head judge. ERIC KHOO!!! And he is such a nice person ( *__* )
A series of embarrassing events ensued with my dropping the incredibly gorgeous handcrafted glass award (I hate myself for that, but good thing it didn’t break, phew!) when I was going back to my seat, and the very strange interview answers I gave to RazorTV. They have an incredible editor because they managed to make me sound like I wasn’t insane *laughs* You can watch it here.
To my aunt and cousin (Anin and Ryza) and friends (Ayeeba, Lix, Mingy, Vincent and Kader) who attended the screening at Alliance Française and voted for me, thank you because I also won the Public Vote Award. The comments I received from my aunt and cousin who went, and their feedback on the reaction of the audience after they watched my film made me really happy.
Thank you sooooo much to the VSIFF 2011 Team and ZoMedia Singapore for awarding me with the Grand Prix Award for my film, Red! It is truly an honour. A special thank you to these incredible people from ZoMedia, Karee Dahl and Gwendaline Lim! I apologise if I caused you any trouble. Thank you for everything and it was an honour to meet with you. Thank you to my family (esp. Mama ♥), friends (too many to name but you know who you are!) and professors who encouraged me, especially Hannes for being such an incredible and patient mentor. Anyway, I couldn’t have done it without all of you! ♥ A special shout out to Peiru for supporting me that night and for the “woots” ♥ Hehe. Congratulations to all the other winners for their fantastic works! They definitely brought a smile to my face (:
